How long does it take you to write an email?
Question:
How long does it take you to write an email?
(i.e. coming up with the idea, writing, and editing — NOT including research, I’m assuming you already know the market)
Well…
More often than not…
Copywriters SAY they can write an email in 25 minutes…
But the reality is more like 1–2 hours.
And look…
Assuming you want to reach what Adil and I call the ‘real copywriter’s life’…
($15k/mo writing 4–5 hours per day for dream clients)
Some days you’ll be writing a BUNCH of emails.
Perhaps as many as 7 or 8.
And if EACH of them takes you an hour?
Yeah. You can see the issue.
Now riddle me this:
What if you need to crank out a handful of emails… a couple FB ads… and the lead of a sales page in ONE day for your retainer clients?
(Again, assuming you’ve done market research already)
That ^^^ is a very normal day for a successful copywriter.
But if you don’t have EXTREMELY efficient work habits…
Things REALLY start piling up…
And next thing you know…
You’re burning the midnight oil every night, swigging back coffees as you wear out your fingers frantically tapping at the keyboard.
That’s a one-way ticket to burnout.
But not only that…
It’s how you end up RESENTING this career path.
‘Cos many people who get to this point realise something:
“I had MORE freedom at my ‘normal’ job!”
That’s one hell of a bitter pill.
Adil and I see it all the time…
People who join our mentorship program come to us with GLARING inefficiencies in their work habits.
They’re:
- Taking FAR too long to write stuff…
- Unable to focus for even just 1 hour without getting distracted…
- In their own head, doubting themselves constantly and slowing all progress…
- Running out of steam by like 2pm every day…
Or any combination of a million other things.
We KNOW that if we don’t help them fix this…
It won’t be long before they too are resenting the copywriting game.
Because look…
With my retainer-getting process and Adil’s A-lister brain…
It’s not hard for people to quickly advance their copywriting career under our wing.
But there’s NO POINT in doing so if their lives are gonna suck once they reach the top tiers.
This right here ^^^ is why we’ve made the CMMP so much more than just copywriting coaching.
In fact…
The FIRST thing we focus on for all our new mentees is their personal life.
No, I don’t mean the latest gossip haha
Instead, we look at and optimise:
- Your sleep
- Your nutrition / diet
- Your schedule
- Your focus habits
- Your writing and editing processes
Adil and I both worked 1-on-1 with one of the world’s best high-performance coaches…
And after adapting things for copywriters…
We pass those habits and optimisations on to our mentees.
(The high-performance coach is a friend of ours, and loves how we’re doing things btw)
Bottom line:
We do a THOROUGH deep dive into the lives of our mentees, and how they set everything up.
From there…
We hold them accountable with daily check-ins via WhatsApp, to make sure they’ve implemented everything and it’s sitting well.
THIS is where the big results happen.
It’s how our mentees are able to comfortably handle the workload that comes with a few retainer gigs…
…and how the ‘real copywriter’s life’ gets fully achieved.
It’s not magic.
It’s high performance.
Anyway…
If this resonates on any level…
And you KNOW you need to dial in your performance and optimise your life…
(So you can handle what it takes to become a top tier copywriter)
Then I encourage you to check out the CMMP here, and take the next steps if you’re keen.
(The sales page doesn’t say squat about how we help our mentees with performance… I’m updating it soon, sit tight)
Because truth is…
If you’re not where you want to be in your copywriting career…
There’s a high chance it has NOTHING to do with your skills…
And EVERYTHING to do with your performance.
There’s no need to go it alone, however.
Speak soon,
Shiv Shetti
P.S. Sometimes we deep dive with a new CMMP member…
And quickly find out the issue isn’t really personal performance…
(Although we always find improvements to make)
But more their BOUNDARIES.
Or lack thereof, I should say.
When a client messages them…
They respond instantly, even if it’s 10pm.
When a client asks for a last-minute project…
They always say “yes”, no matter how unreasonable the request.
When a client sneezes…
They’re on hand with a tissue.
Obviously joking with that last one… BUT the principle remains true!
Point is:
A lack of boundaries stems from a lack of abundance.
Something, as it happens, the CMMP can also help with.
See, as part of the program…
You get access to my infamous Flaming Camel process…
Designed to give you the abundance you might well be missing.
And once you understand how it works?
You can generate $3k to $5k/mo retainers with 6, 7, and 8-figure clients… whenever you want.
It’s a superpower.
And, it gives you breathing room to say “no” and put up boundaries with clients.
(Because you KNOW you can replace them without much hassle if needs be)
Anyway…
If that sounds like music to your ears… check out the CMMP here.
