Roy Furr’s painful feedback
“Yeeeeeaaaaah… this isn’t very good…”
^ That’s how my buddy Roy Furr kicked off a critique on a VSL I wrote.
Which, ya know…
Isn’t the IDEAL way you’d want a critique from an A-lister to start haha
But hey…
It was just a small thing Roy wasn’t a fan of.
A minor blip at the start.
The rest got the thumbs up.
…right?
Yeah… no.
I WISH I could say that was the case.
But alas…
Your friend and 17th favourite copywriter took a pretty big L on this one :’(
While I held back the tears throughout the call…
The only thing Roy held back were a few f-bombs to emphasise his point.
(I’m only SLIGHTLY exaggerating here, that’s the crazy thing…)
Long story short:
The VSL needed an overhaul.
Like…
‘Forget what you wrote and start from ground zero’ type of overhaul.
It gets better:
Not only did I screw the pooch, set it on fire, and stamp on its remains for good measure…
This all happened…
Recently.
Like…
VERY recently.
You could even say…
EMBARRASSINGLY recently.
*eek*
Anywho…
Point is…
- I have to eat humble pie, even now — so I hope that makes you feel better about yourself
- If VSLs are something you struggle with — you best fix that ASAP… and / or have an A-lister give you feedback
Look…
On any normal occasion…
I have no issues with VSLs.
Back when the Flaming Camel was a standalone program…
(Which it’s not anymore, you can only get it via the CMMP)
The most recent VSL I wrote churned out the green stuff, organically, for well over a year, with zero changes.
And despite the ‘red-headed step-child’ VSL I talked about above…
The ones we ran for the CMMP worked fine as well.
That said…
They CAN be a b*tch and a half to get right.
Cold traffic VSLs especially.
But that’s FINE…
Because when you ‘crack the code’…
You unlock HUGE profits…
Which is why you MUST know how to do this for clients.
(A cold traffic VSL that scales is like the Holy Grail for many)
But if you’re lost?
Fear not.
To help on your VSL journey…
Adil has created a masterclass on this EXACT topic inside our advanced FB group!
A big chunk of the $800m+ he’s generated came from VSLs.
And if this tells you anything…
He once shared a ‘disappointing’ VSL with me…
Which ‘only’ pulled in $500k.
So yeah.
Adil knows what he’s doing.
Anyway, this time…
I decided to wait until Adil finished the masterclass and link directly to the completed training:
Watch the Underground A-lister’s VSL masterclass right here!
In this one, he’ll reveal:
- Small changes to VSL scripts that increase conversion rates
- Why other A-listers ask for Adil’s advice on VSLs (i.e. what he does differently)
- How to come up with a unique hook for your VSL
- Adil’s answer to: “should I use a VSL in this promo?”
- Plus a load more VSL golden nuggets
(Btw, Adil is close personal friends with Jon Benson — the creator of the VSL and a billion-dollar marketer himself — safe to say he picked up a thing or two from Jon…)
Speak soon,
Shiv Shetti
P.S. In case you’re wondering…
I asked Roy to critique that one poopy VSL I wrote since Adil was too close to the copy to give it the best review.
Regardless, this has always been my issue.
I often find it FAR easier to create coaching programs that get results than to market said programs…
