This client alone will be worth 6-figs plus bonuses
My process strikes again:
6-figs plus bonuses — pretty f*cking sweet.
(Side note: many of my students are now making more than I did when I was a freelance copywriter haha… as Da Vinci once said: “poor is the pupil who does not surpass his master.”)
And interestingly enough…
This retainer came from the FIRST Flaming Camel* my student sent off.
(*1 Flaming Camel = 1 unique outreach message created the specific way I teach)
It wasn’t the right time when he first reached out…
…but after circling back a while later, things had changed…
…and my student secured the deal.
(With a $30m/year supplement company, no less)
Here’s why this worked so well:
- The Flaming Camel pulls HARD on Cialdini’s rule of reciprocity, which builds a strong relationship with prospects right out of the gate
(a la Jay Abraham’s ‘Strategy Of Preeminence’)
- So even though it was the wrong time for this prospect, the relationship was still there
- And almost a year later, the prospect remembered my student and was more than happy to work with him when he reached out again (the timing was much better)
So if you’re sending prospects generic DMs like “how’s business going?”…
(To which the answer normally is “business would be going a lot better without you pestering me”)
…you don’t stand a chance in 2021.
Instead?
You HAVE to be unique.
You HAVE to differentiate yourself.
And — most important of all — you HAVE to put the relationship FIRST when going after clients.
(Psst… retainers are all about relationships)
